Vintage 1940s Örebro Swedish Military-Style “Livpäls” Canvas Sheepskin Parka

Condition: Very Good vintage condition for an 80-year-old military winter coat. Please note that all but one of the main front buttons are missing and will require replacement. The single surviving original button remains attached as a reference. Please refer closely to the photographs for a complete assessment.

Size: Estimated Men’s Small–Medium. The coat was designed with room for winter layers, but please consult the exact measurements below to ensure a precise fit.

Dating from the 1940s, this Swedish military Livpäls is an exceptional example of Scandinavian cold-weather construction. It is not an officially issued military garment, but a commercial reproduction closely based on the heavy canvas-and-sheepskin winter coats developed for the Swedish Army. Produced by Örebro Sport- & Bilekipering, it follows the heavy canvas-and-sheepskin format associated with Swedish military winter coats of the period. 

The exterior is constructed from dense cream cotton-duck canvas, fully backed with thick white shearling through the body and sleeves. The lining extends into an oversized shawl collar designed to provide substantial insulation around the neck.

Deep flapped pockets, a canvas throat latch and underarm ventilation openings reinforce the coat’s functional military construction. Its pale canvas and unusually uniform shearling distinguish it from the more heavily weathered, tonally irregular examples commonly found as surplus.

Although most of the original front buttons are missing, the coat retains its principal structure and one surviving button for reference. Once sympathetically restored with appropriate replacements, it will represent a particularly clean and well-preserved example of wartime Swedish winter outerwear.
